When Marsis positioned in the 1st, 4th, 7th, 8th, or 12th house of the horoscope, Manglik Yog is formed. However, in a female’s chart Manglik Yog is not formed when Mars is in the 7th house. Being Manglik causes a person to: be short tempered; be fearless; become a popular doctor, surgeon, or a soldier. Please remember that being Manglik is not a Dosh (fault), but it is a Yog (configuration). There is a lot of wrong information and misconceptions about Manglik Yog in our society. It is important that people know what the true meaning of being Manglik is, and what its effects are. One of the biggest misconceptions is that a Manglik must necessarily marry another Manglik otherwise the non-Manglik partner will die, or the couple will divorce. In fact, when horoscopes are matched, Mars’ influence is considered predominantly.
This is not correct. I am a living proof of it. I am a Manglik whereas my wife is not! And I have been married for more than 15 years without facing any marital problem.
It is not compulsory that a Manglik must marry a Manglik. A Manglik and a non-Manglik can have as successful a married life as any other couple. Manglik effect remains until the age of 28 years. After that, Mars’s negative effect is significantly reduced. Marriage after 28 years is considered better for a Manglik.
Customarily, if there is a Manglik person getting married, his/her parents start looking for a Manglik match. Once a suitable Manglik match is found, both horoscopes are matched and gunnas are calculated, and if 20+ gunnas match, then the marriage is consummated. But then why does it so happen that after some time, the marriage begins to fall apart, and divorce becomes imminent? Why does the marriage fail even though both partners are Manglik, and 20+ gunnas in their horoscopes match? Horoscopes were thought to be matched perfectly! So why then did the marriage not succeed? Surely there was something that the astrologer had failed to see. It is precisely for this reason that something as important as matchmaking must always be performed by a learned astrologer well versed with the nuances of horoscope reading, and one who is capable of seeing beyond Manglik Yog or gunnas.
We can marry a Manglik with a Manglik alright, but we must check to see whether there are any divorce-causing planets in either horoscope. Since we are all too worried about the Manglik Yog, we think that once that is out of the way, the couple will have a happy married life. And we all know that such is not the case always.
Manglik marrying a non-Manglik
Suppose a Manglik marries a non-Manglik. There are combination that ensure a happy marriage despite the Manglik—non-Manglik match. For example if, in the horoscope of the non-Manglik, Venus is either in its own sign, or is exalted, or is situated in the 7th house AND Jupiter is either in its own sign, or is exalted, then married life will not have any problem.
It is therefore important not to centre your attention on Manglik Yog and gunnas when checking compatibility for marriage. There are many other factors besides these two that can influence the marriage either in a positive or in a negative way. You also need to check if either horoscope indicates:
Divorce (due to planets like Rahu or Ketu)
Death of spouse
These are just some indications to look for in the horoscopes. It is important that a competent astrologer be consulted for as important a job as matchmaking, and all factors be duly considered.
I will now give you 3 examples. Marriages have failed in 2 examples despite both partners being Manglik. The 3rd exame is of a couple where the wife is Manglik but the husband is non-Manglik. Still, they have been happily married for more than 10 years without any marital or health problem to either one of them. All these are my clients.

This couple had already divorced before consulting me. The boy has Mars in the 12th house, and the girl has Mars in her 8th house. There is no doubt that both are Manglik. 21.5 gunn also matched in their horoscopes. The couple is divorced now! Both of them were Manglik but still they divorced! The reason is that in he girl’s horoscope, two marriages were indicated. She has married again after divorce with her first husband. Therefore, that condition is fulfilled. Even a Manglik—Manglik match could not save the marriage. It was thought, when they were married, that this is a perfect match. However, the astrologer had apparently failed to see beyond Manglik yog.

The boy has Mars in the 8th house, and the girl has it in her 12th. This makes both, the boy and girl, Manglik. 26 gunns matched. However, they have filed for a divorce! Despite the Manglik—Manglik match they are divorcing! When both are Manglik, then why is their marriage falling apart? When horoscopes were matched, why wasn’t it noticed that there would be problems in the marriage. Marriage is a very important event in a person’s life. It is the union of two souls. Utmost care must be taken and every detail must be looked into when matching horoscopes. “Union” means a happy and flourishing family. So why this divorce?
Now let me explain the horoscopes: Both are Manglik and 26 gunn matched. Things look good until that point. However, the boy has Rahu in his lagna (ascendant), and that is where the problem is. Rahu is the ascendant gives problems in married life. It even has the capacity to cause divorce. This couple is suffering from Rahu’s effect. They face incompatibility of views and have numerous arguments. Their marriage is falling apart. It, therefore, becomes important to consult a knowledgeable astrologer for marriage compatibility.
This couple lives in Punjab, India. The husband does not have Manglik Yog, but the wife has Manglik Yog. And 17.5 gunns matched (out of a total of 36). They have been happily married for more than 10 years. Now you would wonder if it is a Manglik—non-Manglik match then why aren't there any problems in their marriage? Neither the husband nor the wife has any health issues either. Common theory tells us that if a Manglik marries a non-Manglik then either it results in divorce or the non-Manglik partner dies. This did not happen here!
Let me explain the horoscopes: Both Venus—which signifies martial life—and Jupiter are situated in their own signs in the husband’s horoscope. The wife has Mars in the 4th house (which makes her a Manglik), but she also has Jupiter in the 1st house. From there, Jupiter aspects the 7th house with an uchh drishti. The 7th house signifies marital life and the spouse. It is for this reason that despite one of them being Manglik, the couple’s marriage is smooth and happy!
The 3 examples that I have discussed here show how important it is to consult a learned and experienced astrologer for matchmaking. Marriage is one of the most important events in a person’s life. A failed marriage causes much trauma, and can completely ruin a person's life.
